Champs!

JR's baseball team brought home the winning medals last night. It was a great game on both sides...we only won by one run. I was so excited for our boys, and I was so impressed with the sportsmanship shown by both teams. We were behind almost the entire game and won it in our last at bat. We truly didn't expect to win either of the last two games so we were pretty amazed at the end. I watched my son interact with all of his teammates as part of the team and I was so grateful that my husband had been willing to coach this year, and had been able to give JR this opportunity to play as part of a team, to truly be a part of a winning, successful team. It was such a different experience than last year where the coach provided no concept of team and players ridiculed the weaker ones. Last night I watched a boy who struck out nearly the entire season, and had done so again last night. Even though it was the last inning and we were still down by two runs, that young man came off to high 5's and nice tries by the next two batters, two of the teams' best. That speaks so highly, I think, of the young men that played on this team, and of their parents who have taught them to be respectful...and as a bonus it also makes them very coachable. I'm just so happy for JR and the whole team!

Congrats to your team. Our team was really great this year too. That's what it should be about...team. I have been so frustrated by coaches that seem to be trying to relive their possibly failed youth through their children. So glad that you also had such a great experience and that your hubby was a part of that. Kudos to you guys. I hope you have a fun vacation in Gettysburg. While parts of it left me very sad I also learned the real value of appreciation. I think going and seeing the faces of those men and being in the place where they were made something inconceivable to me a reality. I loved the old town feel too. But that is just me. As for DC, I could take it or leave it. I didn't like the rush of the big city and all the people. I sat next to this pregnant woman who was heading home from work I think. It was like 6pm. I thought, "Is this what you are going to do once you have a child? Ride on a subway and pick your kid up from who knows where at 6:30 at night and then do it all again tomorrow?" Not the life for me. How tiring and so not worth it. I know people do it, but it's so bizarre to me. Anyways, enjoy your time. I hope it isn't too crowded for you. It started to get like that as the weekend approached. Take care! We may never make it back to church until after July. Driving on Sundays seems to be our future for now:)
